Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say early analysis show the liquid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A high-ranking representative said the incident made him speechless and had to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
